Stepping back in time.....

Catherine and I just enjoyed an evening out at the artists and designers reception at the Hempstead House on the Sands Point Preserve last night.  Beautiful cool clear sky evening, with a sliver moon...
inside to a mansion from the past, all decked out.  Lots of artwork, designer rooms, a great three piece jazz band playing, many cool artists and guests, wine....time to stroll and enjoy spaces that 100m years ago was some ones....home.

It is cold this morning!
The Designer Showcase opened this past Saturday at the Sands Point Preserve.  My painting and collage are on display upstairs in the Hempstead House. (See attached photographs) and....a few images looking out the windows from the room where my work hangs. Wow!

The Chelsea House

We had a wonderful time this past Thursday evening attending the COLOR Art Show at the Chelsea
Mansion in East Norwich, N.Y.  (I had one large painting and a smaller collage in the show) Very well attended, with a jazz trio playing in one room and later an 18 piece jazz band .  Here are some photographs from the mansions grounds which I took when we first arrived.  If you get a chance, check out this beautiful estate and its grounds!

At The Met

Catherine and I had a very pleasant and educational afternoon at The Metropolitan Museum of Art this past Sunday.  A wonderful, small group of UMASS Amherst faculty and Alumni shared a lunch in the museum and later were treated to a tour of rugs, tapestries, paintings, calligraphy from Iran, Iraq and other countries.  A tour led by Professor Walter Denny, who was very adept at also sprinkling in a nice dose of humor within his scholarly presentation.
       Attached are several images of the many fantastic artifacts that we all enjoyed. The last image is a shadow created by one of the objects displayed....even that was interesting!
